2020 – Present
Marilyn, serves as a beacon, an architect and a strategist to entrepreneurs, infrastructure utilities and governments seeking turnarounds, realignments, cultural transformation, sustainable growth, data-based solutions, reskilling and upskilling of human capital.
Transformational Leadership at the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) PLC (2016 – 2020)
As the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Marilyn spearheaded disruptive reforms that turned around the 100% government owned company in the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN). Introduced innovative, transparent and deferred financial solutions, brownfield generation plants used to make upfront payments and obtained critical parts and maintained generating units from shutting down. Recorded zero payment defaults and facilitated Sustainable Development Goal (SDG7), by recovering significant quantum of previously unavailable megawatts, injected onto the grid. Introduced a Corporate Academy used to upskill and reskill the human capital. Administered a portfolio worth over US$15Billion on behalf of the FRN, made up of debts, contingent liabilities and sovereign guarantees. The disruptive, creative and strategic interventions Marilyn introduced, prevented the FRN from accumulating additional debt, preserved the country’s sovereign credit rating, enabled the government to access the funds it needed to develop critical infrastructure, create jobs and sustain economic growth. Marilyn strategically and tactically ensured that the tax payers budgetary allocation in the sum of over US$1Billion, approved by the legislative arm of government, was optimally utilised for the public good.
